City Street Driving
Today I drove a semi on city streets for the first time! I thought it went well. My instructor was talkative, which I found to be a distraction. It is easy to forget you’re pulling a trailer, which is important to remember when turning. I have the tendency to pump the brakes when coming to a stop. That’s not good with air brakes since I loose 4 psi every time I press the brake. Also, I need to keep both hands on the steering wheel.
I also paralleled parked today. Apparently the tandems were in the wrong position on the truck I practiced on last time. They fixed the issue, but it threw my landmarks off. So I had some difficulty doing the maneuver initially. But I was getting it toward the end.
