Parallel Parking Day 1

I spent four hours parallel parking (aka Blindside Offset Backing) the semi today. It was pretty tough. It was kind of like shooting pool—all about angles. While there is a method to it, it depends on how you set your truck up at the beginning. And that has been a struggle too, getting my truck in alignment to do the maneuver. I’m always turning the trailer the wrong way, which throws off what I’m trying to do. The maneuver requires me to crank the steering wheel hard one way and then crank it hard the other way. I ended up rubbing skin off my hand and had to wear gloves the rest of the day. I guess I have some skin in the game now.
